Helpful Information
Starting counselling can feel like a big step. This overview is here to help you understand how the practice works, including how your personal and health information is managed.
+ Appointments and fees
Present Minds Counselling offers 50-minute individual counselling sessions. Fees vary depending on the booking or referral pathway and will be confirmed when you book.
A deposit may be required to secure your appointment and will be applied towards the session fee where applicable. Payment of the remaining balance is required at the time of your appointment unless otherwise arranged.
Fees are reviewed periodically to support ethical and sustainable practice, and reasonable notice will be provided of any changes affecting your appointments.
+ Cancellations
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur the full fee applicable to the booked session.
Deposit and refund arrangements may vary depending on how your appointment was booked. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions or your booking information for details.
+ Confidentiality
What you share in counselling is treated as confidential. There are some limits to confidentiality, including where disclosure is required or permitted by law, such as where there are serious safety concerns or information is required through a lawful process. Where possible and appropriate, this will be discussed with you.
+ Privacy and your information
Your personal and health information is collected and securely stored to support your care and the administration of counselling services. Client records are managed electronically using Halaxy, with Australian practice data held by Halaxy stored in Australia.
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information held about you. Further information is available in the Present Minds Counselling Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
+ Communication outside of sessions
Contact outside of appointments is generally limited to administrative matters, such as booking or rescheduling. Therapeutic support is provided during counselling sessions rather than by email or text message.
+ Telehealth
Video and telephone appointments are available where appropriate. If attending by telehealth, please ensure you are in a suitable private location where you feel able to speak openly.
Telehealth may not be suitable in all circumstances, and alternative arrangements may be discussed where clinically appropriate.
